A WHOLE NEW BALL GAME

Aviva Stadium try out their American Football posts as part of their preparations to stage the Navy V Notre Dame match on September 1st next year. The annual collegiate match is one of the oldest rivalries in American Football and next year the Naval Academy will host Notre Dame in Dublin in what is expected to be one of the biggest sporting events of 2012. Over 10,000 people are already booked to travel from the United States including over 1,000 Naval Midshipmen and the event is set to generate a significant boost to the Irish tourism industry. Tickets are due to go on sale to the general public in March of next year and there is high expectations that the Aviva Stadium will reach capacity for this unique experience.

Aviva Stadium Director, Martin Murphy commented, “we are extremely excited to stage American Football for the first time in our new stadium. The outstanding facilities were designed to cater for a variety of sports and we look forward to welcoming both the Navy and Notre Dame teams and supporters to the Aviva Stadium.”
